Windsurfing anywhere is the best when you have the perfect wind behind you. Well in the Seychelles, those winds are the trade winds. Trade winds are the prevailing winds which blow from the southeast moving northwest to the equator. The peak times to catch these winds are during the spring (around May) and in the fall (around November). These winds make for prime windsurfing and are super reliable. Another reason to go windsurfing in the Seychelles is for the ocean there.
Because of the Seychelles’s location in the warm waters off the coast of south eastern Africa, the ocean is very warm and crystal clear. With water temperature in the high seventies to the low eighties, who wouldn’t want to go windsurf in such conditions? During the summer months (September – February) the water is to die for. With water warm enough for no wet suits to be found, you’ll never want to get out of the water.
While some of the islands in the Seychelles chain are quite congested with people, there are other, uninhabited islands. With easy access by boat, these alluring islands make a perfect place to set up a picnic spot for lunch after you’re done with a long day of windsurfing out in the water.
The long, white sand beaches with small waves lapping at the shore make for the perfect background for your next holiday card or just to make your fellow windsurfing friends jealous of you. Who wouldn’t be jealous of clear, eighty degree waters?
Now, windsurfing in the Seychelles is quite possibly one of our world’s most desirable places for the windsurfing enthusiast in any family. With a multitude of species of tropical fish to observe, one could search all day and always find some new and intriguing specimen of fish.
